Reform appoints all-male cabinet in Lancashire

First council cabinet with no women in the county’s history

Lancashire County Council, one of the 10 councils now run by Reform since the 2025 local elections, has appointed an all-male cabinet.

It is the first time the council has had a cabinet that includes no women. Reform UK holds 53 of the 84 seats on the county council, including 9 Reform women councillors who they could have chosen from.

There are ten cabinet positions, all now filled by men:

Stephen Atkinson, council leader
Simon Evans, deputy leader and children and families
Ged Mirfin, resources and HR
Graham Dalton, adult social care
Daniel Matchett, health and wellbeing
Matthew Salter, education and skills
Brian Moore, economic development
Warren Goldsworthy, highways and growth
Joshua Roberts, rural affairs and environment
David Dwyer, IT and data

Reform UK’s new council leader Stephen Atkinson said (yes, this is a real quote): “I’m sure that some of the ladies of the group will be useful in the future.”

The new cabinet also axes climate change from the environment position.

Despite the cabinet also being all-white, Atkinson dismissed anti-racism protesters’ concerns, saying: “It’s wrong to call us racist.” Glad that’s cleared up.
